An analysis of Édouard Manet's painting dans la serre (1879, Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin) through a serie of theorical detours.

The first detours invoke Mantegna, Correggio and more widely Baroque aesthetics in order to analyze how Manet composed his painting. The second ones outline a personal statement on ethical and erotic involvement through painting, quoting for that purpose Freud's writings on memory and Thierry de Duve's reflexions on address.
